1979 Cessna Citation I

N841CW   S/N 501-0134

In late 2005 Jerry Temple Aviation (JTA) was contacted by the President of PACNAV, a Mexico city based firm that operates ocean going bulk freighters.  PACNAV had not previously owned and aircraft.  As is so often the case the drive from Mexico City to their offices in the various shipping ports in Mexico were all a several hour drive which required a three day round-trip.  A one and a half hour flight in a business jet meant a day trip and even more than one location visited in a day.

Jerry Temple traveled to Mexico City and met with PACNAV executives.  PACNAV’s mission requirements, budget, future plans and JTA’s services were reviewed.  A full Acquisition Agreement was signed.

With JTA’s consulting, a Citation 501SP, without Thrust Reversers, was the selected aircraft.  The mission had no short field requirements and most trips would only carry the two pilot crew and 1 – 3 passengers.  Payload/Range and Weight and Balance were the primary considerations.

Cessna Citation, S/N 501-0134, a 1979 Model, was chosen for further research.  The aircraft was owned and operated by a Fort Worth, Texas firm who employed an American Airlines MD80 captain to pilot the Citation.

After initial conversation, Jerry Temple traveled to see the aircraft and meet the pilot.  An initial Logbook/Maintenance review was conducted along with other historic research.

A demonstration flight was scheduled with the PACNAV executives traveling to Dallas.  An experienced Citation Type-Rated Pilot/Citation experienced mechanic flew the aircraft and provided an initial physical evaluation.  All went well and JTA prepared an Offer to Purchase.  (Note: Not a final Purchase Agreement).  After appropriate negotiations, an Offer to Purchase was accepted.  A comprehensive pre-purchase inspection was conducted at Aero Mechanix, an independent maintenance facility at Addison Airport (ADS) in North Dallas.  Juan Oviedo, an experienced 501 pilot and the owner of Aero Mechanix, who flew on the demonstration flight, maintains several Texas based Citations.

After further negotiations by JTA to address inspection issues, the sale was completed in 3/06.  JBS Interiors at ADS was selected for some Interior upgrades/re-furbishing.  Little work was needed.  Flite Electronics, at ADS, was selected to modernize the Panel/Avionics and conduct RVSM Approval.  JTA coordinated all post-sale maintenance by Aero Mechanix and post-sale modifications were conducted under the JTA Acquisition Agreement.

Upon completion of all required/desired maintenance and modifications, PACNAV placed the aircraft in operations based from Toluca Airport in Mexico City.  The aircraft is crewed by two professional pilots.

During 2006 to present, the aircraft has performed flawlessly.  The aircraft has been flown to Aero Mechanix at ADS for all major maintenance.

The aircraft has always remained U.S. Registered, N841CW with all Logbooks/Records in English.  The aircraft is on Cescom, Cessna’s computerized maintenance system.

The Citation has been a complete success for PACNAV but its rapidly growing Caribbean business has required an office to be opened in Miami with frequent trips between Miami and Mexico City.  An aircraft with longer range is now required and thus Citation 501-0134 is for sale.

The Specifications List posted on JTA’s web site – www.jtatwins.com - is correct.  The aircraft is operational so interested customers should assume a few additional hours.  JTA has also posted the invoice from both JBS Interiors and Flite Electronics for their post-sale work.  In addition, the aircraft’s 7/06 Cescom 10 Report (40 pages) is also posted on JTA’s website.

Interested buyers should consider Tamiami as the aircraft’s new home base.
